Position Overview:

As an office cleaner, your primary responsibility is to maintain a clean, hygienic, and comfortable workplace environment by cleaning and sanitizing common areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces, restocking supplies, and following a cleaning schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and Sanitizing:
    • Sweeping, mopping, and buffing floors.
    • Vacuuming carpeted areas.
    • Dusting and polishing surfaces.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and break rooms.
    • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
    • Cleaning windows, walls, and glass.

 

  • Maintaining Supplies:
    • Restocking bathrooms with supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
    • Restocking kitchen areas with supplies.

 

  • Waste Management:
    • Emptying trash and recycling bins.
    • Collecting and disposing of trash regularly.

 

  • Other Tasks:
    • Spot-cleaning spills.
    • Operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners.
    • Following a cleaning schedule and checklist.
    • Adhering to health and safety guidelines and company policies.
    • May include specialized tasks such as deep cleaning the staff office kitchen and peripherals, steam-cleaning upholstery.

Qualifications:

    • Combination of education and or experience.
    • Self-motivated individual who loves to keep things tidy and goes above and beyond by paying attention to the small stuff without losing the overall big picture.
    • Ability to work independently with good time management skills.
    • Experience working in similar role
    • Working knowledge of cleaning equipment
    • WHMIS is an asset
    • High school Diploma

Work Location, Hours & Salary:

  • SIM Canada National Office – 10 Huntingdale Blvd, Scarborough, ON, M1W 2S5
  • This is a contractual position with a minimum of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 30 hours per week.
  • The hourly rate is $18-$27.

Position Overview:

We are searching for a casual Guesthouse Attendant to work in the guesthouse. The Attendant will look after the guesthouse’s scope of duties. The attendant must be professional, warm, and welcoming. This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning duties for all guest rooms.
  • Assist with Guesthouse bookings.
  • Tidy beds and change linens as required, empty and clean trash containers, sweep, mop, dust, etc. (laundering linens).
  • Maintain inventory of necessary supplies. (Linens, towels, ensure the replacement of toiletries for each room according to usage)
  • The guesthouse fridge should be cleaned when necessary and stocked with the appropriate items.
  • Notify the Facilities Coordinator or Facilities Manager regarding maintenance issues that may come up.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies and complete tasks with optimum care.
  • Ensuring rooms are appropriately booked and labelled for guests.
  • Keep the Guesthouse fridge and pantry stocked with the appropriate items.

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and or experience.
  • Self-motivated individual who loves to keep things tidy and goes above and beyond by paying attention to the small stuff without losing the overall big picture.

Position Overview:

The Grant Writer/Project Coordinator position is essential to securing funding to support SIM Canada’s initiatives and projects. This includes strengthening current relationships with giving partners and identifying new giving partners that fit within the values and beliefs of SIM Canada. To achieve this, excellent communication and research skills will be required, along with a strong understanding of faith-based non-profit funding opportunities. The Grant Writer/Project Coordinator will also assist the Project Administrator in overseeing the SIM projects with a vision to develop the project portfolio of SIM Canada both locally and internationally. This includes assisting the project manager in acquiring the appropriate reporting from projects to ensure accountability and compliance with the Canadian Charity laws. Local and overseas travel may be required. The position will be split 50% grant writing, 50% project coordination.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential grant and funding opportunities with foundations, corporate funders, churches and other potential partners.
  • Write compelling, well-organized grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests tailored to each funding partner.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of grant and request deadlines, ensuring timely submissions.
  • Develop and strengthen SIM Canada’s relationship with giving partners.
  • Strengthen SIM Canada’s relationship with SIM project managers
  • Ensure that proposals align with SIM Canada’s mission, vision and values.
  • Track grant application outcomes, funding received and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating projects’ progress and effectiveness and identify areas for improvement to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial documents related to grants and projects.

Outcomes:

  • Increase financial support from funding partners and develop stronger relationships year after year.
  • Produce quality reports from project managers and develop a system of reporting structures that are consistent with growth and sustainability.

Reporting:

  • The Grant Writer/Project Coordinator reports to the Project Administrator with a dotted line to the Executive Director.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Belief and practice are consistent with a life that showcases the saving and transforming work of Jesus Christ.
  • Agreement with SIM Canada’s Statement of Faith and Values ( in belief and practice).
  • Education in the related fields and or coupled with related experience.
  • Appreciate and have a passion for missions (locally and globally).
  • Strong understanding of cross-cultural dynamics, particularly in Not-for-profit Christian-based work.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Competency in writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives. Coupled with Experience with grant-writing processes and donor reporting frameworks.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and an evident ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other software to enhance reporting.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic team environment.
  • Skilled in social media is considered an asset.

Position Overview:

SIM Canada is looking for a dynamic ministry-oriented Director of Finance to provide general oversight for the financial operations, accountability, and management of SIM Canada’s finance department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of SIM Canada’s financial management, ensuring compliance with all relevant government legislation, agency policy and contractual obligations resulting from association memberships, partnership agreements, government funding, insurance requirements, etc.
  • Responsibilities include leading all financial reporting, collaborating on budgets and forecasts, ensuring compliance with Federal and Provincial reporting deadlines, and reviewing accounts monthly while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Manage the preparation of budgets and forecasts and monitor the actual financial performance against the approved budget toward the long-term financial health of SIM Canada.
  • Keep complete and accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements of SIM Canada in proper books of account.
  • Implement, supervise and maintain systems to safeguard assets and ensure the disbursement of funds is adequately controlled.
  • Oversee the financial management of member accounts and advise members on financial matters, as appropriate, in collaboration with the Personnel Department.
  • Provide information to guide and advise the Board of Directors in the areas of spending, program development, and audit procedures at the direction of the Executive Director, the Chair, or the Chair of the Finance Committee. This will require attendance and participation, at the request of the Board of Directors, in all Finance Committee and Audit Committee meetings.
  • Report to the Board of Directors at the regular meetings thereof whenever an account of all transactions and the financial position of SIM Canada is required.
  • Facilitate the work of the auditors and participate in all Audit committee meetings as directed by the Audit Committee chair.
  • Report to SIM International on finance, projects and other matters as required while ensuring that all the expectations of SIM International regarding legacy funds, etc., are adhered to
  • Ensure government reporting and remittances are filed accurately and on time.
  • Stay informed of the legal requirements for a registered charity and ensure receipts provided are in accordance with government rules and guidelines.
  • Prepare any financial analysis requested by different parties
  • Ensure all the payments are approved by assigned authorities and booked correctly

Outcomes:

  • Reports generated and data/trends shared with leadership
  • Budgets prepared and reflect the vision and mission of SIM Canada
  • Accounts are managed with the utmost accuracy and integrity
  • The finance team feels supported and receives the necessary resources to perform their duties well

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • At least 5+ years of current experience in all areas of charity-related financial management
  • Possess a recognized accounting degree (CPA preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Canadian charity law, systems and procedures
  • Possess a passion for and basic understanding of missions, an ability to provide leadership to a team and demonstrate a commitment to the board-approved direction and values of the organization
  • Possess good people skills to build a positive team and work well with field missionaries and associates

Assets:

  • An asset would be to have a familiarity with a church/mission-based/para-church organization and or experience in the charitable sector.
  • Possesses solid computer skills and good knowledge of Financial and Raiser’s Edge, Excel, and other accounting software.
  • Knowledge and experience in Payroll Accounting for general oversight purposes.
  • Understanding of CCCC’s and CRA regulations and reporting requirements

External Reporting:

  • HST filing
  • Compliance – T3010, Saskatchewan and Alberta registration
  • Annual Returns (Federal and Provincial)
  • Donation Tax receipting – oversight/reconciling

Financial Management:

  • Payroll oversight
  • Clergy filings/oversight
  • Supervision and support of all members of the finance team
  • Year-end/audit prep/oversight

Work Location & Hours:

  • Full-time, 5 days per week at SIM Canada National Office – 10 Huntingdale Blvd, Scarborough, ON M1W 2S5

All Members of the National Office are expected to be involved in the following:

  • Attend Daily Prayer Chapels (8:30 AM – 9:00 AM)
